    Diet Phase 3: 31st Jan – 13th Feb 2017

Stage 3 is going to be your typical calorie counting approach.  Due to weird sleeping patterns, I’ll be doing a ‘weekly calorie count’ – my TDEE is apparently 1,620 calories, meaning I should cut down to around 1,300 calories a day to lose weight.

    1,300 x 7 = 9,100 calories a week (but let’s aim for 9,000 calories a week).

Disclaimer: I hate counting calories, and find it tedious.  Figure if I break it up by week, I can have 2 x 2000 calorie days, and 5 x 1000 calorie days.  Not sure how I’ll break it up yet, but here goes nothing….

    WEEK ONE:

Actually writing about daily weight loss when you’re on a normal calorie counted diet isn’t going to be too thrilling – either to write or for anyone to read!  But, after 7 days, I’m down to 10st6.1 and 31.1% fat.   That’s slightly under 1lb down, not necessarily as fast as I’d like, but I’m not going to complain about it.

    WEEK ONE WEIGH IN: 10st6.1

    WEEK TWO:

Again, I stuck to 5 days of 1K calories, and 2 days of 2K calories.  Had maybe one slip along the way, but got back on track quick enough.

    FINAL WEIGH IN: 10st5

I’m taking a diet break for a week or so now.  Day one of period was 16th Feb, and I weighed in back up at 10st6 (as to be expected).  As I’m measuring from ‘Day One of Period’ to cut out the monthly cycle factor, I’m only 3lbs down since December! (although if you take it from highest weight, after Christmas eating, I’m 8lbs down – amazing how many ways you can look at it).

Yet to decide on next diet phase, but will be before my trip to Oslo.

    Starting my journey

    It’s December 9th 2016.

    I’m 42 years old, 5’2″ and I currently weigh 149lbs – about 32% body fat.

My aim for the end of 2017 is to weigh 126lbs: that’s 23lbs weight loss total, or roughly 2lbs a month.  I will, however, be happy if I just manage to lose 14lbs over the course of the year and reduce my body fat %.

I am going to try and achieve this by dieting for 2-4 week periods, then taking 3-4 week breaks (where I will maintain the weight). In each dieting period, I’ll attempt a different type of diet, unless I find one that particularly works for me.

This blog is a tracker for my weight loss journey: to motivate myself, and hopefully share anything I learn along the way with others.
